Places to visit, things to do

Paradisbukta Oslo

Oslo is a summer city. There’s a lot of praise for those who take their first swim of the year. There are many places to swim in the fjord, but there’s nothing like sandy beaches when the temperature rises. Paradisbukta is on the King’s property, but is open to the public. A little less crowded and a little less hustle and bustle here than at Huk a kilometer further east.

Oslo is a fjord city. In the summer, the entire city circles the fjord. In recent years, many saunas have sprung up. Oslo Fjord Sauna is run by Fjord CleanUp. The saunas are self-service and the profits go towards cleaning up the fjord. A clear conscience, a good sauna and a cool bath.

A fairly newcomer, but very pleasant, wine bar in cozy Frogner. With an intimate atmosphere over two floors, the bar also serves small bites with the wine. As you would expect, the wine list is long and rich. And for those who don’t fancy a whole bottle, there’s also a good selection by the glass.
