Take a walk in Ekeberg sculpture park
Get some fresh air and be inspired by a wide range of art from different cultures. In Ekebergparken you will find strong international art and sculptures in scenic surroundings. Artists like Gustav Vigeland, Per Ung, Paul McCarthy and many more give you great masterpieces that are a delight to the eye. You can also experience a rich flora of plant life including ornamental shrubs and garden flowers in the park.
If you have children with you on the trip, it might be exciting for them to say hello to sheep, horses and cows down the Ekeberg slope. You may also notice one or more of the about 40 nesting bird species in the area. This is an area characterized by beautiful birds and sounds, where you may recognize some of the well-known species.
Experience Oslo's cultural heritage
If you wish to experience some of Oslo’s history and cultural heritage, Old Aker Church is a good alternative. The building dates all the way back to the 1100s and is Oslo’s oldest. If you are interested in architecture and art this will definitely be worth the visit. The church bears a distinctive character from the Middle Ages and is built in a Romanesque arch style. As a tourist destination, the church is popular with pilgrims. Church services are being held every Sunday and on Thursdays they arrange children’s song.
Visit an organic farm
Bring the children and visit the organic farm at Kampen. Here you can say hello to the animals while learning more about organic food production. The farm is open to everyone, every Tuesday and Thursday from 5pm to 7pm. On Sundays between 12 noon and 3pm, coffee, juice and waffles are being sold. The farm also arranges a number of exciting events.
Magical experiences in "Christmas in Winterland"
From mid-November to late December, Spikersuppa is transformed into a magical Christmas market. This takes place between the Parliament and The National Theater. At Christmas in Winter Land you can experience the beautiful starry sky, which is an arc made up of thousands of lights. You can also visit Santa on the North Pole and listen to Christmas music from a wonderful choir. All this and much more, free of charge.
The market also offers different flavors of Christmas. In the booths you will find freshly baked goods, Christmas porridge and mulled wine, among other things. This is also the perfect place to do some Christmas shopping. Here they have knitted clothes, handmade decor and other gift items.
